Community Christian School’s James Peterson

It’s always a treat when people are familiar with the athletic teams at your school, especially when you and your friends are contributing to its success.
That is what James Peterson would like to see for the sports at Community Christian School, where he plays football and baseball as a senior, and that’s what he likes about representing his school.
“I love getting CCS out there because we don’t receive tons of exposure,” Peterson said. “But I want to show that there is great talent at our school.”
At 6-foot-4 and 300-pounds, Peterson has caught the eye of several teams at the next level and will likely find himself playing on Saturday next year. As a two-way player for the Royals, Peterson has shown he can dominate on the offensive line and is athletic enough to play defensive end.
“James has an offer from the Air Force Academy and receiving interest from multiple other D1 schools. James was also a standout on our state tournament baseball team,” said coach Mat McIntosh.
Playing on both the gridiron and diamond has taught him that “You will never regret putting in more work,” he said, “only not putting in enough work.”
That likely relates to the best advice he said he has ever received, which is, “Show up early, stay late, put in the work, and you’ll never have any regret.”
Outside of school, Peterson likes to spend time playing golf and going fishing.
The most memorable time of his high school career just happened to come during his freshman year, “when we overcame the loss of a great senior class and finished 9-3.”
Peterson’s favorite teacher is “Mrs. Bell for the last two years because she lets anything go,” he said. His father inspires him. “My Dad has shown me how to navigate life and work through my faith,” he said.
The teammate Peterson is inspired by is Grayson McGuire.
“He has been with me through the ups and downs, but he has shown me how you can always change for the better,” Peterson said of McGuire.
Peterson is grateful to everyone in his life who impacts his actions.
“I want to thank my family for pushing me always to be the best I can be, and to my teammates for holding me accountable and making me a better player, and a person in all that I do,” he said.
